CAT 2012 results were declared in the wee hours of January 9. A quick analysis of the CAT 2012 results tells us that the maximum number of students getting 99 percentile or more are from Mumbai, followed by New Delhi and Bangalore, proving the dominance of these cities in the Indian MBA scenario.

Ten students have achieved the perfect score of 100 percentile in CAT 2012. Nine among them are engineering students while the rest is a B Sc student from the Delhi University.

Eight out of the 10 students with the perfect scores come from IITs. Five of them are still in their final year of graduation. The trend proves that despite all-round efforts on the part the stakeholders, engineering students still dominate CAT.

Among girls, the highest score is 99.99 percentile, and four girls have attained the feat. They hail from Karnataka, Orissa, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and are engineering students in their final year. In all, 255 girls and 1,640 boys have scored more than 99 percentile.

The analysis tells us that 180 students from Mumbai have got 99 percentile or more, while the numbers are 168 and 157 for Delhi and Bangalore.

CAT 2012 results were declared at around 3 am this morning. As was apprehended, there were reports of server problem and thousands of students were unable to access the server. This glitch continued for more than half an hour, and things gradually became normal after that.

“It’s heartening to note that the IIMs are ushering in the New Year with a talent pool that is both diverse and inclusive, representing all sections of the society. The CAT 2012 results indicate that the rhetoric of inclusion indeed matches the reality inside IIM classrooms…” said Prof Debashis Chatterjee, director of IIM Kozhikode.

“An important responsibility had been successfully fulfilled by IIM Kozhikode in a professional and an objective manner with the support of sister IIMs and our technology partners” said Prof SSS Kumar, convener of CAT 2012.
