Hanuman Jayanti is held on the 16th of April 2011 and the festival celebrates the existence of Hanuman, the Hindu monkey god who was an ally of Rama. The legend goes that Hanuman fought and defeated evil alongside Rama and Hanuman is celebrated as representing willpower and faith under the Hindu credo.

Mysore is considered to be one of the most spiritual destinations in all of India and as such many Hindu worshippers make for the city to celebrate various religious festivals. The city turns into a more spectacular sight than ever during hanuman Jayanti as the streets are filled with dancing, music, food and drinking.
